Taking Charge

Today more than ever I realize I am thankful for being proactive about taking care of my health and watching out for the health of my family.  I had to have 3 biopsy's taken from my cervix last Friday.  I  got a call back today to tell me I have Cervical Dysplasia and need to have a leep procedure done to take care of it.  What is Cervical Dysplasia?  It is precancerous changes of the epithelial cells that line the cervix.  The leep procedure is preformed to make the abnormal cells rapidly heat and burst, and will separate the tissue as the loop wire moves through the cervix.  The abnormal cells and excess tissue will be sent away for further testing.
This being said I am even more motivated to start the SP Detox on Friday.  The SP Detox is a 21 day detox to remove toxins from the body. Go to this website to get more information on the detox I will be doing http://www.dendrites.com/Detox%20Guide.pdf

I hope I have the strength and will power to make it through this. No sweets, carbs and wine are gonna be a killer for sure!!!! But its only 21 days and its about getting on a great health track!!!

Trying to get toxins out of my life is a very big challenge.  I'm thinking where should I start?   I grabbed  one of my beauty products that I use on my face and looked at what was in it.  I didn't understand half of the ingredients.  So this is where I start.
I did some searching and came up with this....

Use plain yogurt on your face as a face wash.  It will work for all skin types to cleanse, disinfect pores, prevent acne, moisturize skin and rejuvenate  its texture.  I like to add lemon to the yogurt to help remove dead cells and also helps with acne. You leave this on for about 5 min. then rinse.  But if you have a milk allergy you might want to look into this before you try it!!
Also, apple cider vinegar applied to your face with a cotton ball works great as a face wash and drying up acne.

You may also want to try a baking soda mask. Here is what you do:
Mix 1 tsp baking soda with 1-2 tsp of water, milk or yogurt to make a thick paste.  Apply it to your face and leave it on for 10-15 min.  Wash off with warm water.  I do this every 3 days.  It leaves my skin so soft.  This also helps get rid of dead skin cells and add a glow to your skin.  To help with acne you can add some lemon juice to this mixture.

I have been using these 3 recipes for about 3 weeks now. I do this once in the morning and once at night. Then once at night (before the yogurt wash) I use the apple cider vinegar.  When I stopped using store bought products and started using the recipes above, my face started to break out in acne.  What I believe is due to not using all the chemicals.  I was not liking this at all but decided to stick with it so my skin could get use to the new change with no chemicals.  I'm so glad I did.  My skin has never been so soft.  I'm still treating my acne, but with these recipes it is clearing up nicely.
I love that this is a very cheap way to start to push chemicals out of my life!!!  Bye bye expensive facial products!

Men, Don't be afraid to try this too.  You will love how soft your skin gets!!

Here I am at the start of changing so many things that I incorporate in my life everyday.  I have decided to blog my way though these new changes in my life.
Where do I begin.   I guess I have to say that I am fed up with toxins surrounding mine and my family's life.  Would there be so many cancer cases, birth defects, and child/adult diseases if we weren't surrounded by them?  The toxins that are put in almost everything we come in contact with day in and out is outrageous.  Is it possible to stay away from all these toxins? I have come to ask myself questions like these a lot lately.    I wonder how many people out there really know how many toxins are all around us and could be making us and our families sick.  Look at the back of your food, beauty products, laundry soaps, hand soaps.  Actually start looking at the labels on everything you use.  Most of the ingredients you can't even pronounce let alone what they are and what they will do to us.

I have looked into going all natural.  What I mean by that is buying all organic/natural foods, beauty products and my laundry soaps.  Doing this adds up to a whole lot of money.  Me not being the only one, can't afford to go that route.  I am a wife and a mother to four children. So I need to ask, how can I make this work without spending all our money just to be proactive about mine and my family's health.   I did some research and came up with lots and lots of home recipes for everyday stuff. Things ranging from make-up remover to multi cleaners for you house.  The best part is most of the stuff you already have in your kitchen!!!

I would like to take this as a challenge and take these recipes and put them to the test.  I will research new ways to live our lives with less toxins.  Recipes will be posted and I will let you know my opinion on how they worked with videos and pictures.
By doing this, I hope to learn more about myself and the way I live.  I also hope to inform, educate and motivate people to live a healthy, happy, fun life.
